Hotly-tipped pop singer-songwriter Thomas Day talks to Wonderland about his discography, writing in the shower, and becoming a frontman.

Following Love Me Another Day — his debut album that boasted breakout single “VICIOUS” — last year’s EP “Angel Boy” felt like a step up in artistic vision. 2025 has seen a run of impactful, innovative singles — like the genteel disco of “Sleep When We’re Dead” — but this newest cut is perhaps the most effective; pure, carefully created songsmithery.

Hey Thomas! How’s it going? How’s your summer?
It’s been a good kind of chaos. I’ve been in LA a lot, writing a ton, barely sleeping. Kinda living in the notes app.
Take us back to your early musical memories. Who was a key influence in your finding your love? Do you remember first wanting to be a musician?
I was playing football and writing sad songs on the side. Probably started taking it seriously when I realised writing was how I made sense of everything. Mac Miller hit hard. So did Frank. It all grew from there.
How did you find the sonic approach that you wanted to take?
Took a while. I stopped overthinking it and just started recording on my phone. Whatever felt good in the moment. That’s kind of still how I work, honestly.
How would you describe your essence as an artist?
Emotional. Honest. A little too obsessed with love. But I don’t fake anything. If it’s in the song, it’s real.
How do you reflect on your album Love Me for Another Day? What was the most challenging aspect of making a body of music?
That project was a chapter. I’ve grown past it now, but I respect it for what it was. The hardest part was knowing when something’s done. I still struggle with that.
Your EP “Angel Boy” took you to new heights. What do you think it was about that project that resonated so widely?
Honestly, She Got a Thing About Her has already done way more than Angel Boy numbers-wise. But Angel Boy was super intentional. I was deep in my Ryan Beatty phase and just leaned into that energy.
You’ve now returned with “she got a thing about her”. What’s the idea behind the song? How did you bring it to life?
Wrote the hook in the shower on tour. Got out and laid vocals straight into my phone using Splice — literally the video editing app. That original post blew up, and that’s still the same vocal stack in the final. Just felt real.
You recently supported Joshua Bassett and The Driver Era — how were those experiences? What did you learn on the road?
Tour was amazing. Learned how to show up every night no matter how you feel. Met so many fans. I’m proud of those shows.
Are you a natural performer or is it something you’ve had to grow into?
Had to grow into it. But I love being on stage. I go full frontman mode. That part’s real for me.
What else is to come from you — this year and beyond?
Always writing. Always recording. Whether it’s a song I made today or one from a few months ago, I’ve got a lot ready. Just figuring out what to drop next.
