Baobei Is On Repeat…
Skrillex, Porter Robinson & Bibi Bourelly – “Still Here (With the Ones That I Came With)”
Can’t explain the serotonin this song gives me – addictive, euphoric and the drums maintain energy all the way through. Love it.
Villager – “Never Gonna Be”
Was v excited to find Villager’s work last year! This one was a fave at our sessions (me + badbadbad). Wonky, analoguey, warm backdrop production and the vocal hook got us.
Charli xcx (feat. bb trickz) – “Club Classics”
Enjoyed the og off BRAT initially but this remix immediately caught my attention with the new bass and bbtrickz’s verse.
PROM – “Cross My Heart”
I’ve been a fan of PROM’s work for timeee. They always get the ethereal soundscapes right and the melodies are always pretty.
Yoofee, Molokai – “Seek & Move (Molokai Remix)”
There’s so much space but the tension maintained throughout is amazing. It toys with you at the beginning and then when that bass comes in, it’s the most satisfying thing.
Field Motion – “Earnest Binary”
The electronic sound tapestry and attention to detail is mad – there’s so many things flying but it’s all cohesive. So many fun ear candy bits too.
Ardalan & Farsight – “2 Yr Town”
Such a groove. I love listening/dancing to electro when out – just associate it with friends, fun, and nights out at Fold (best club in London).
Vegyn & John Glacier – “A Dream Goes On Forever”
I feel like the song encompasses that feeling of liminal space – walking around London, on the tube, when you’re kinda inbetween places. You’ve got whatever on your mind, just going through the motions of the every day, but there’s a beauty and a weight to it.
Bassvictim – “As Long As”
Love the cool, rhythmic vocal and how it pairs with the bass. Powerful and a face scruncher.
Commodo, Gantz & Kahn – “AMK”
That buildup – they really make you waait. But the release makes it so worth it. It’s BIG and that motif that repeats is almost hypnotic. UK dubstep was my intro to electronic dance music and going to dubstep nights with my sister – where you feel the low end thru your whole body. So this one holds a special place in my heart.
