A creative trifecta: Hackney’s own Bree Runway, Chivas Regal, and Dolly Cohen join forces to unveil a sculptural masterpiece.

Bree Runway is no stranger to making waves. Missy Elliott, Khalid, Stormzy, Gaga — you name it, and chances are she’s worked with them. Co-signs list? Don’t even get me started. For nearly a decade, the genre-blurring powerhouse has been cementing her place in East London’s rich sonic lineage, fusing pop, hip-hop, R&B, and hyperpop into a sound that’s unmistakably hers. A blueprint for fearless artistry, powered by raw individuality and an unrelenting push for creative evolution. But even the brightest stars need to step back before they shoot forward. After a year out of the spotlight, 2024 marked her triumphant return with “Just Like That” — a statement of intent, a fresh start, and her first release as an independent artist after parting ways with her label in 2023.
On and off stage, Bree is a force — an artist whose ascent is matched by the impact she leaves behind, as a fierce advocate for representation and diversity in music. So, could Chivas Regal have chosen a more fitting face for their latest campaign? Unlikely. Teaming up with Parisian cult grillz artist Dolly Cohen for the launch of their XV Bottle, the Scotch house enlists Bree to embody their shared ethos: “I Rise, We Rise”, a project rooted in collective success, resilience, and the celebration of personal journeys.
The result? A striking fusion of heritage and modernity. A 14-karat gold bottle cage — Cohen’s signature craftsmanship meets Chivas’ golden aesthetic. Displayed exclusively at Selfridges, London, with only 200 available, it’s an invitation to collectors and connoisseurs alike to own a piece of this rare collaboration.
Ahead of the launch, Wonderland sat down with Bree Runway, the muse behind this shimmering project, to talk artistry, the power of collaboration, and why this moment means more than just gold.
Tell me about starring in Chivas’ campaign. How did it come together? What made you want to be a part of this story?
I’m obsessed with a good story. This campaign places emphasis on inclusivity, representation, and diversity, which is everything myself and my work stand for. Plus, I love a fierce woman who makes a fierce grill too.
What was it like working with Dolly Cohen? Was it a match at first sight?
Match at first sight would be an understatement. Within minutes, we went from “Hi, hello” to shaking our butts to Kendrick Lamar’s “Squabble Up.” We’re both such people’s persons, we had so much to talk about and laugh about. It was so cool being in her spot, seeing the BTS of some of the huge collaborations she’s done, it was so cool. I love linking up with women who have built epic empires from the ground up – super inspiring.
What does “I Rise, We Rise” mean to you?
I’m captivated by this quote because it embodies a collective rise rather than just individual ambition, a mindset I deeply resonate with. I’m always striving for success, but it’s just as important to me that those around me thrive as well.
What does success mean to you? And how have you achieved it in your life?
Success, to me, is simply doing what I say I’ll do, whether it’s a big goal or something small. It’s about following through, getting things done, and actually feeling the rewards of my hard work. That’s when I feel the most successful. Also, sharing wins with my family – can’t beat that feeling ever.
What are some motivational words you stick by when you have to get your hustle on?
“If at first you don’t succeed, dust yourself off and try again.” Aaliyah’s “Try Again” has always pushed me through anything, whether it’s a tough gym session or a long day in the studio. I remind myself that I’m free to reinvent myself, my situation, and my universe over and over until it feels right, until I feel truly satisfied and fulfilled.
When you were Wonderland’s Winter 21 cover star, you told us “I’ve always gravitated towards things that no one is doing.” Is that something you still resonate with?
Absolutely, yes. I feel like I’m a natural-born pioneer with a unique eye and ear, and I’m always on something fresh, constantly evolving. I’m actually super excited for everyone to hear my new project – it embodies all the above.
You are creative all around. But what is it about music that really speaks to you?
I love everything about music, but what really does it for me is how healing singing actually feels for me. Even in the writing process of my project, there are a few heartfelt moments where actually laying it down on the mic felt insanely healing. I’m obsessed with my voice and toying with it to create moments.
If someone asks you to define what you do, what would you say?
I’m a genre bender, a universe builder… I’m a statement, a big one at that.
Are there any creative ventures you’ve yet to dive into but are dying to?
I’d love to direct a film—a sinister, edge-of-your-seat kinda mood. We need more of those in the world.
What’s the most Scorpio thing about you?
I’m super mysterious. You never know what’s next with me, but in the best way possible. Love keeping people on their toes—it makes life spicy.
What are you manifesting this year?
Continued peace. The 2025 energy has felt unbelievably lush for me. Lots of dancing feet when my project is released, and more rare fashion finds.
